Day 1 –  Pick up at Chennai airport and transfer straight to Mamallapuram for 3 night stay.

Day 2 –  Visit Dashina Chitra – heritage village and Kanchipuram for temples and silk.

Day 3 –   Full day at Mamallapuram – Unesco Site – rock cliffs caves & monolithic shrines across a boulder strewn landscape.

Day 4 –   Travel to Tiruvanaamalai for temples. 1 night in area.

Day 5 –  Travel to Pondicherry – French town. Stopping at Gingee Fort on route. 2 nights at Pondicherry.

Day 6 –   At leisure sightseeing in and around Pondicherry, including a short drive to Marrakkanam to see salt fields if possible.

Day 7 –   Travel down the coast, towards Tranquebar stopping at Chidamburam to view famous Nataraja temple. 1 night Tranquebar.

Day 8  –   Morning looking around Tranquebar old Dutch town and then drive on towards Nagappattinam to view coastline, ports etc. Arriving at Thanjavur for 3 night stay.

Day 9 –   Sightseeing in Kumbakonam – temples and brass factory

Day 10 –   Sightseeing around Thanjavar including temples and royal palace.

Day 11 –   Travel to Trichy for temples, Lord Robert Clive house, Rock fort Temple, Ganapati temple and Srirangem Temple, 1 nights stay

Day 12 –  Morning visit to old city, especially Big Bazaar Street, Chinna Bazaar and Ghandi fruit & Vegetable market.

Afternoon travel to Chettinad area for 2 nights stay

Day 13 –  Visit merchants houses etc with a local guide for viewing of houses.

Day 14 –   Travel to Dingual area for homestay in Athoor Village for 3 nights.

Days 15/16 –   Driving into country around local area to view scenery, towns etc and local walks from homestay and visit local village with guide from the homestay.

Day 17 –   Transfer to Madurai for an evening view of the main temple. 2 nights stay

Day 18 –   Around Madurai, including morning visit to main temple, Alagar Hills etc

Day 19 –   Transfer to Kumily for 3 nights

Days 20/21 –   In and around Kumily

Day 22 –   Transfer to Munnar for 3 nights

Day 23 –   Long drive out towards Chinnar wildlife sanctuary ? (Hari drove up this way from Coimbatore, the first time we came to Sth India, but the hills were covered in mist).

Day 24 –   Morning Trekking from hotel, late afternoon in and around Munnar.

Day 25 –  Transfer to Cochin 1 night

Day 26 –  Transfer to airport 6th March 2012 Emirates flight EK 531 Depart 09.30.
